Nestled in the cluster of 13 mountain peaks of the Aravali ranges the city of Kumbhalgarh is located to the south of the beautiful Pink City – Jaipur and around 100 km from the city of sunrise – Udaipur. Kumbhalgarh is one of the most visited places in the state of Rajasthan, India and famous for its gigantic Kumbhalgarh Fort. The mammoth Kumbhalgarh Fort was built and designed by Rana Kumbha in the 15th century. This fort is the second major fort in the Mewar region after Chittorgarh.

The massive Kumbhalgarh Fort is perched atop the Aravalis. This massive fort occupies the area of about 12 km. There are many palaces, temples and gardens inside this mammoth fort complex. The fort has seven gates. The massive Kumbhalgarh Fort complex is easy to get to only by Jeep from Kelwara through the seven gates.

The region of Kumbhalgarh is not only known for its massive Kumbhalgarh Fort but also for many other attractions. Apart from Kumbhalgarh Fort some major attractions of this region are Haldighati, Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary and Muchhal Mahavira Temple.

Haldighati is a historic place where the famous battle between Maharana Pratap (the heroic son of Udai Singh) and massive forces of Mughal Emperor Akbar was fought in the year of 1576. One can also see here the beautiful Chhatri (cenotaph) of Maharana Pratap’s horse – Chetak.

The Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is also the major attraction of Kumbhalgarh region. The Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is the only sanctuary of Rajasthan, India where activities of the rarely found wolf can be seen. The sanctuary is rich in wildlife. Some major attractions of Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary are Wolf, Panther, wild bear, sloth bear, crocodiles, four horned antelope, flamingoes, cormorants, spoonbills and egrets. The Muchhal Mahavira Temple is located about 5 km from Ghanerao in the Kumbhalgarh sanctuary. The prime feature of this temple is the statue of Lord Mahavira with a moustache.

By Air:
To arrive at Kumbhalgarh nearest airport is Udaipur (84 km) and Jodhpur (102 km).

By Rail:
To arrive at Kumbhalgarh the closest railway head is Phalna Junction which is well-connected from Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jodhpur, Ajmer and Jaipur.

By Road:
Kumbhalgarh is well-connected from the nearby cities like Udaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Pushkar and Jodhpur.
