Delhi, India
Delhi, the capital of India, is the second largest city in India after Mumbai with the population of 13.8 million. The city of Delhi is sprawled over a vast tract of Yamuna plain and located in North India. Delhi is a city where you can observe the unique blend of past and present. Delhi has been the capital of many dynasties in ancient time.

According to popular Hindu mythology Delhi was previously known as Indraprastha which was founded by Pandav brothers. In fact, the city of Delhi is combination of two cities – Old Delhi and New Delhi. Old Delhi was developed by the Mughal emperors and New Delhi was developed by the British.

Delhi is one of the most fascinating cities in India. The city demonstrates the soul of the country. This is the city where one can observe the perfect and amazing blend of historic past and vibrant modernity. The city is rich in culture and its history. The ancient architecturally beautiful structures of Delhi still narrate the amazing and fascinating saga of bygone era.

Red Fort, DelhiRed Fort: - The Red Fort was built in the 17th century by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan. This grand fort is also known as the Lal Quila. Inside the Red Fort there are exquisite palaces like the Diwan-i-Khas and Diwan-i-Aam.

Qutub Minar: - This impressive 73 metre tall minaret was built by Qutub-ud-Din Aibek in 1119.

India Gate: - India Gate is one of the must visit sites in Delhi. It is a 42 metre high majestic arch, built as the war memorial in the honor of Indian soldiers who laid their lives for the welfare of the India during the First World War. The eternal flame (Amar Jawan Jyoti) burns beneath the arch to honour the memory of the unknown soldiers.

President House: - The President House, also known as the Rashtrapati Bhavan, was built by the British. This impressive and magnificient building is the finest blend of Mughal and Western culture.

Humayun Tomb: - It is a memorial to the Mughal emperor which was built in the 16th century. Its design inspired the Taj Mahal.

National Museum: - National Museum houses an excellent collection of terracotta sculptures, bronzes, paintings and amazing costumes.

Connaught Place: - Connaught Place, also known as the Rajiv Gandhi Chawk, was built by the British. It is a unique shopping spot in the city. It is quite close to the New Delhi railway station. Here one can also visit another famous underground shopping centre, Palika Bazaar.

Jantar Mantar: - Jantar Mantar is also a major tourist attraction in the city. This unique observatory was built by the Rajput King Sawai Jai Singh II in 1724.

Some other attractions which are also worth seeing are Dilli Haat, Lakshminarayan Temple, Old Fort, Raj Ghat, Jama Masjid (the biggest mosque in India), Shanti Vana, Bahai Temple and many others.
